Some of us didn't grow up with both parents in the same house, or both present.
But if you are looking at my courses, you have this bone deep yearning for something better. Something different.
If you are here, you are running as fast as you can away from the rat race. The idea of spending one more minute stuck in an office, in traffic, or in suburbia is damn near overwhelming.
If you are here, maybe you bought the farm and have absolutely no clue what to do now. You've got goats that are dying, pigs that are running amok, and chickens that just won't lay eggs.
There is thousands of hours of information on the internet. There are thousands of blogs, Instagram accounts and YouTube videos. It's all overwhelming!

So welcome to Steel Raven Farms and let's get started on your homestead education.
My name is Leigh and I am a homesteading, homeschooling mom of 2 boys and lead chaos creator on our homestead.
I'm goat mom of 9 permanent goats. Chicken mom to 30-200 chickens on any given month. And pig mom to Delilah, Bacon, and Amos when he comes to the farm.
I've been married to my husband, Jared, for 15 years.
We weren't born into a farming or homesteading life. Quite the opposite. We are both city kids, born and bred.
Jared and I met in high school and have been together ever since. But after his time in the military, and my time as a city medic, we yearned for something different.
Our retirement plan was a cabin in the woods where we could be away from people.
The dream of retiring to a cabin in the woods morphed over the years to a cabin in the woods on a mountain. To finally a homestead in the mountains.
But we weren't there yet.
When the pandemic struck, Jared and I were both working as medics. We saw the grocery store shelves deplete. We saw the hospitals become over run. We saw people turn on people.
We realized this was not the life we wanted to live.
We wanted to be self sufficient. We did not want to rely on stores for the things we needed.
We wanted to have animals that provided all sorts of protein.
But most of all? We wanted peace.
Peace to be us. To raise our kids the way we wanted to. To live the way we want to.
We realized that there are a TON of people out there just like us. They want to leave the rat race but can't. They want to raise their family, their food, and their meat. But they don't know how.
That's where Steel Raven Farms comes in. We started our homestead and realized that the information out there wasn't built for us.
So we built it ourselves and we are sharing that information with you.
